Finally we hear how the mission is going!

Hello family!! How are you all doing!! I cant wait to talk to you all in 2 weeks! Well this week we had our first baptism!! Her name is Zoe and she is 9, she is super cute and was so excited! Her mom is also getting baptised in 2 weeks, and we have 8 people on date to be baptised this month. So we are pretty excited and really busy! But last week Makall (who has still not emailed/ wrote me back!!) said that I was being to vague in my emails and she wanted to hear a story or two. So this week I will give you 2 stories!! And just so you know they do not include men hitting on me (sorry Kate ;).
OK first up I will tell you about happened a this past week. Sis Rose and I were teaching a older man Bobo who's wife is a member, and he has had the discussions for almost 10 years. From earlier lessons we realized that he know that our message was true but that there was something holding him back. He kept saying someday when I am baptized or when I am a member, so he clearly has a testimony. So we played a Mormon message for him called choose this day by Henry B Eyring ( If you get the chance you should go to Mormon.org and watch it). It basically says that we need to choose this day to serve the lord and not wait till someday to act. After we watched the video we talked about what each of us can do to choose the lord this day. His wife said that she really wanted to be sealed in the temple, so we asked Bobo what date that he had picked to go with his wife. He was kind of confused for a moment but then said that he hadn't, and that it didn't really matter because once he was gone his wife would just do it for him. And then it clicked he did not want to be baptized now because he knew that it could be done later. So finally knowing what the real problem was I (well the spirit did) told him how important it would be for him and to his wife that it be him that she is sealed to. Not someone who will stand in his place but to have him really there. And he almost started crying, as sister Rose went in to more detail about the plan of salvation and how families can be together forever. He did not commit to anything but we know that he is one step closer to going to the temple with his wife.
And the second story happened a few weeks ago but its really good/funny/embarrassing so I will Share it because all my previous emails have been dull. So we were out contacting less active members, and we stopped by this mans house. He wasn't home, and It was only after we stopped by that we were informed that he had been dead for several years. But any way I really really really needed to pee ( yes I said pee), but sister Rose thought that we should go and ring the neighbors door. So I begrudgingly went with her, up to the door. She knocked on the door and this woman comes out and starts talking to us, and all the while I was dieing!! We stood there talking for what seemed like forever but was really only 2 or 3 minutes. So at one point I could not hold it any longer so I just blurted out "Can I use your restroom?" Sister Rose and the lady just looked at me, but she let us in. So after everything got taken care of we started talking to her, and it turns out she is one of the most prepared people that we have ever met! Her family is going through hard times and Bonney (who is the lady) was really just looking for some peace. So we set up a return appointment, and we met her daughters. One (Tara) said that she used to be atheist but that it was just to sad, boring and depressing. So she stopped. the other (Reine) seemed interested and wanted us to come back. We gave them a book of Mormon and told them that we would come back. But here is the best part, we stopped by a few days ago and talked to Tara, and she had already read half the Book of Mormon in 2 weeks!!! She said that she likes the way that it makes her feel and that she really wants to know more!!
So there you have my stories of the week, and once you all stop laughing about my awesome/embarrassing story, you should all write me back!!! And as for the mothers day call we are trying to find somewhere to Skye and I will see if I can call the Hardys daughter.
I love you all so much and cant wait to hear from you.

P.S .... Yeah I got nothing this week sorry ;)

Hi everybody!!! How are you all doing!! Sorry I couldn’t write last week we had only 4 hours on Tuesday to do all the things that we normally do in Pday. But it was so nice to go to the temple, I saw a few of my friends from the MTC, and just had an amazing time. So yeah this week has been super awesome (mainly because you can't not have an amazing week when you start it at the temple. I mean seriously!) But we are teaching several families and we have a 9 year old girl getting baptized on Saturday and her mom will be next Saturday! Also we had exchanges this week so for 24 hours I had a different companion, it was interesting. I realized that I do love sis Rose even if she is a little odd. I loved hearing all about all of your conference highlights, and yeah I am famous now ;) Everyone has been asking me lots of questions and so here are so answers. Yes I do have a car and I am now the designated driver, and no I have not hit any one or anything, except a curb or two. We get 1000 miles a month which sounds like a lot but it really isn't. Mainly because we have to drive out to the middle of no where to get to a small town called Chaparral. Now Chaparral is an interesting place, and in the words of my District Leader "God took dust, trailers, tumble weed, packs of small crazy dogs, put them in a yattze shaker and... Shacke Shacke Shacke.... Wham Chaparral." Ha it a funny little town on the edge of New Mexico, so I guess I am serving in NM after all.

Next my daily schedule is pretty much the same everyday. I get up at 6:20 ish (no really I do I am being completely serious!) we then exercise for 30 minutes, eat breakfast and get ready for the day. Then we study from 8-11; yes we have 3 hours of study time. Then we have lunch and go to appointments! At 5 we either go home for dinner or go to a members (this is what we do the most) and we have a spiritual thought and then leave. Last night we had diner with the strange family, yeah their name is really strange. And they really are a bit strange, there is really no way to describe them but that they are strange.  But after dinner we go out and teach more then we get home at 9pm, then we plan till 9:30pm. After that its time to get ready for bed, I write in my journal (I have only missed one day since I left!), wash my face shower, and then go to bed. And do you know what I do the next day.... The exact same thing. Unless we have church, meetings, or P-day. But I am so excited to be here and help people come unto Christ. Last night we contacted a family who were on date to be baptized and then just dropped all contact with the elders. So we finally got a hold of them and again committed them to baptism and they are determined to follow through this time. I miss you all so much and love to get all your letters, please write soon and if you send videos to my email make sure they don’t take me to YouTube or I cant watch them. I love you all and will writ more next week!!

Another SHORT message from Jenna

Dear Mom & Dad

I have missed you all so much! How are things? I am glad you had a good Easter. How is Coco? Has she had any accidents? I miss her very much. I saw a dog the other day that looked just like her and it made me happy and kind of sad.

Any way if at all possible in the next package could you send some FHE lessons & pictures. Like the plan of salvation, any about Jesus, any thing kids can color. Also we have the church movies that I always used to watch, not the living scripture videos but the ones from the kids BOM & Bible. If you could get me them on DVD if they are not to much it would be so helpful. If there is anything else you think might be useful you can send it also. I don’t want you to think I am only writing you because I need things. I love you both very much and can’t wait to talk to you next month.

Thank you both for being amazing parents, I have seen all sorts of families down here and some are good some are bad. I am just thankful for all you both did for me. I know it was a struggle some times but I love you both very much.

I will write again soon!!
With all my love

Hello family how is it going? Thanks for the letters this week and all of your prayers, they mean so much. Well this week has been busier than ever, we have been teaching several families and contacting loads of people. And on April 27 we will have our first BAPTISM!! Its a Mom and her 9 year old daughter, they have been taking the discussions for awhile now but they have finally decided that this is the right thing to do. I am so excited to be able to be apart of this wonderful work! And conference was amazing, and I only fell asleep once. But I loved that I knew that during those few hours that we were all doing the something and listening to the prophet. I loved Elder Hollands talk and President Uchdorfs, they were both amazing. What were your favorite talks and why were they your favorite? I sent you all post cards last week but they all came back to my address instead. Yes I did put your addresses on them and not mine, and yes they had the right postage. Oh well I will send them again to day
But any way how are you all? And I need a favor, I need some good one liners that I can just start teaching with. If you can think of any please let me know. Because this is harder than I thought it would be to open my mouth and just start talking. But any way I love you all and hope to hear from you all soon.
Sister Chatwin
P.S I love you :)

Hey I actually have time to write a little more today! But we usually don't have much time to write because we have been emailing the last little bit of our P day, and we usually run out of time. But today we came early and have lots of time! But any way how are you? I miss you so much and just love to get your little notes and letters. Also did you see me on TV? Did you record it and did it look good? We could watch the in between things because we had to teach and eat. I loved all the conference talks and the once about children raising there family right were just so special. Because those things are things that you and dad already do and did for us when we were kids. And we are so great full to you.
Yes I am taking pictures, when I can and when there are things to take pictures of. I will probably send you the card in the next few weeks, and be warned that there may be lots of just silly pictures on it...Just saying. Can you belie that I have been gone for a month and a half almost?! I  cant believe how the time flies, and just think in 2 more conferences and 17 more fast Sundays I will be home!! I try not to think about that to much because I know that I am here to focus on the lords work. But I still think about you and everyone loads.

I love you so  much and cant wait to hear from you. Also what is Jim's address I have a letter for him and his family but have no address.
I miss you and will write again next Monday.
Love Sister Chatwin

Oh yeah and next week we are going to the temple on Monday so I may not get to email next week. But I will write and please send me Makalls email!!

A short message, she must be doing well!

Hi !! Thanks for the letters and the package. Life here in El Paso is nice, although it is getting rather hot down here.  I am the only one who is hot because they all thought that when the weather was 70 it was cold. Also this past winter the had the "Big Freeze" temperatures dropped to a shockingly low 30 degrees!!! I just had to laugh thinking of how it was -11 this last year. But anyway the ward is nice and love that they have sisters. Our apartment is brand new, so it is kind of empty, but at least there are no cockroaches. Sister Rose and I have been teaching a family of 5 where the dad has been less active. But he now wants to go back to church, so he and his family are taking the discussions. The are scheduled to be baptized on April 30 (I think...), but it is super exciting to teach there whole family! The kids are so cute, (but not the cutest that I know ;)  We also have dinner appointments almost every night, and its nice to not have to worry about cooking. Also mom should be proud, because I bought all my groceries for the month and it was under $40!!! I am a bargan shopper that's for sure..... Or maybe its the fact that I bought bread, Peanut Butter, Jelly, Chips, and a small treat. Ok so maybe am not that good at bargen hunting but still that gives me $60 left for the month. But let me tell you about a good experiance that I had this week. So the other night we where on our way to an appointment and we realized that the person had given us the wrong address (How rude). But we actually found a woman and talked to her for about half an hour about religion. It was pretty cool, and she said that we could come back! Ok got to run Love you all!!
Ok so have a few more minutes then I thought so I will write you both an email. I love it being out here, and I feel so blessed. Also I think God may have cured my allergies, because they were really bad for a few days and after I fasted yesterday they have almost vanished! It is just amazing the way the lord works. Also my companion said the following this week when we were talking about sun screen. "You don't use sun screen because it causes cancer! It makes it so your skin cant adjust to the sun causing you to get cancer". Yeah I had to laugh at that one, but thank you both for all the letters and packages they have been a really big help. I love you both so much and can you guys believe that I have been gone a month!! Wow the time has just flown by, well at least for me. Also next month we get to talk to each other, and that is just super exciting!! And mom I promise to send you pictures soon, I am just waiting for the memory card to get full.
Remeber that I pray for you every night and I know you do the same. I want you to know how great full I am that I was raised in your home. I have seen so many people out here and in my life that don't have a good home or good parents. It just makes me feel so blessed that God sent me to your family. And I want you both to know that I have a testimony of this gospel, and it is all thanks to you. Because of you I know that I have a loving father in heaven, because I have such loving parents right now. I know that Christ is my savior and that he is knows who I am and what I have been through. Thank you both for being the most amazing parents that any person could ask for. I love you both very much!!!
